I have been a passionately bad guitarist for 45 years, but have become a really good and passionate luthier. It all stems from a love of working with wood and also a passion for guitars, particularly electrics, their majesty, power, sensitivity and grace, I work on every guitar until it is as resonant and toneful as it can be. They must deliver inspiration and joy

I've been having a little play around and it's brilliant. Looking back on the whole process I'm glad I went with you as opposed to a big brand guitar. I like how you've listened to all my daft ideas and actually made them a reality. It's also good that the finished product has evolved from the original idea and the place we ended up is absolutely perfect.
When I showed it to my friends that also play they absolutely loved it, they said that you could tell it was hand made which is something I like. There is no guitar like it which makes it truly special it is perfectly imperfect as it's not some mass produced slab of wood that has no variances in grain.
Overall I'm loving the sounds that it's giving me and can't wait to start writing music on it. In the event that I want another one with a different vibe in the future I would definitely come back to you and have already recommended you to all my friends looking for guitars.
Cannot recommend this guy enough, the build quality, the designs, the attention to detail, the feel and the sound are all spot on, not to mention his customer service! Andrew wants the guitar to feel right for his customer and judging by what I told him about my playing and our style of music he was spot on!
I will be going back at some point to get a custom made guitar from Bear Guitars and after playing my new Bear Swamp Ash Custom Rocker I doubt I'll go anywhere else for guitars from now on! Get yourself over to his website for a bespoke one of a kind guitar...you won't be disappointed!
William’s guitar - 7/19
The guitar arrived today and I must say it is an absolute stunning guitar Andrew. Seeing it in person and holding it was magical.
It has exceeded my expectations in all aspects, the look, feel, sound and playability. The action is perfect by the way, also, do you remember what garage strings are installed? 9s or 10s, they feel great. I am really loving the headstock, its beautiful and quite modern looking in my opinion which I like.
The pickups are amazing, very versatile, I tried clean ambience to extreme distortion and everything in between, they worked great with any setting.

The thing that amazed me about working with Andrew is the level and the frequency of updates he gave me. He was basically asking me for every single detail of the guitar he was building to make sure the guitar was exactly as I wanted it. It was great working with him.
the guitar is everything i wished for and more, super light, slim neck and my Blue!

The guitar plays fantastically well, I find it incredibly easy to play, it is light, I can move fast around the neck, and there is really nothing negative I can say about the overall build of it.
The pickups sound amazing, the guitar as a whole does, to be honest I've mainly been playing the janglier cleaner type stuff and it just sounds very lush and beautiful, big extended chords on the humbucker and then the tone on the rick pickup really cuts through when I play lead lines, this goes for the times I have played distortion too, that Rickenbacker pickup really has a great quality to it when it comes to playing noiser stuff too which is honestly surprising.

This is my first electric guitar, and I was going to buy a strat until I came across your Instagram page; and you were the same price, but they were nicer and unique. Also you can tell you love what you do.
I have a few friends who have played for 20 odd years, and they couldn’t put it down. And also like you said it’s unique, and the look suits me.

So, I didn't think my dream guitar existed. I always loved the Jazzmaster/Jag off-set shape, but never liked the pick-up configs or controls, and wanted something close to a semi that was distinctive. Never thought I could afford a custom build and to be honest was a little intimidated at the idea of having to describe what I wanted.
Then I stumbled across Andrew/Bear Guitars. Fantastically distinct and unique guitars. Andrew lets you build your dream guitar with him, from the bottom up, from the early sketches, through picking the exact piece of wood/top/neck and electronics, all the way to the finish and finishing touches. He makes you feel as if you're building it with him
So now I have my dream guitar (and a plus 1, because it would have been rude not to!) that I'm absolutely thrilled with. I can absolutely guarantee there's not another one like it out there, and it's been built to play, not hang on the wall, so I'll be gigging with it as soon as I can.
Leaving aside his highly questionable taste in Prog Rock, he was a pleasure to work with!
