When I had the idea for this guitar I went to research the 8 string concept, expecting to find a number of guitars to study, to find none! I am sure this is not new, but it certainly does seem pretty unique.
it was conceived as a songwriters electric, a guitar that is loud enough to sit on the sofa with, can be plugged in for a range of sounds, but fundamentally designed to encourage more chordal play, to be an easy flexible and inspirational guitar.
the doubling up of the top B and top E strings brings an extra fullness to the sound, but because they’re the only ones, doesnt suffer the playing restrictions and difficulties of a full 12 string. Clearly its owner could remove the 2 extra strings and enjoy it as a normal 6 string.
its very light, old sweet chestnut top over old mahogany body. A cool Gretsch pickup with volume and tone darkening switch allows a surprising range of amplified sounds, with the right pedals or amp this thing can rock, or jangle, to suit you.
